What does Scania BMU fault code 628 mean?

Incorrect measurement of the propulsion battery voltage class B.

What causes Scania DTC 628?

Poor connection to IBU. Poor connection to the contactor unit. The sensor for IBU voltage meter is defective. EMC interference.

How does the system react?

Yellow warning indication of an electric drive system fault is displayed.

How to fix Scania BMU fault code 628?

  1. Clear the fault code if the problem occurs once or twice between two maintenance intervals.
  2. If the problem occurs more frequently, continue with the steps below:
  3. Lift out the propulsion battery E83 from the vehicle.
  4. Check the connection between IBU and the contactor unit.
  5. Warning!
  6. Renewing the IBU or contactor unit is electrical work and must only be carried out by authorised personnel.
  7. Make the vehicle safe according to Procedures for all electrical work on hybrid vehicles.
  8. Renew IBU in the propulsion battery.
  9. Renew contactor unit in the propulsion battery.
  10. When renewing the IBU or contactor unit, run Calibrating propulsion battery information.
