Interruption in CAN communication with switch module S139.
What causes Scania DTC 596?
- Switch module S139 is faulty. - Fault in the CAN bus connections or cable harness. - The wake-up signal to switch module S139 is short-circuited to voltage supply.
What are the symptoms?
Safety lighting consisting of dipped beam and position light is activated. Functions depending on switch module S139 may have reduced functionality.
How to fix Scania CUV fault code 596?
- Check whether the switch module for main lighting supplied sufficient power.
- Check the fuse in the central electric unit.
- Also check the connection and cable harness.

Detection
Interruption in CAN communication with the switch module for main lighting.
Possible cause
- The switch module has no voltage supply. - Fault in the switch module. - Fault in CAN connections or open circuit between CAN-low and CAN-high. - Wake-up signal to the control unit is short-circuited.
Symptoms
- Dipped beam and position light are activated. - Functions which are dependent on information on the CAN bus from the control unit may be degraded.
How to fix
- Check whether the switch module for main lighting is correctly supplied with voltage.
- Also check the connection and cable harness.
