What does Scania EAS fault code 768512 mean?

An internal test in the control unit has failed.

What causes Scania DTC 768512?

- Faulty or out-of-date software in the control unit. - Internal fault in the control unit.

How does the system react?

- Yellow warning indication of an electrically assisted steering fault is displayed. - The control unit reports a fault via CAN. - The electric motor and electrically assisted steering system are switched off. - The electronic end position is deactivated. - Fault code 0C6000 is activated at active 15 voltage.

What are the symptoms?

The steering feels sluggish due to degraded functions for steering assistance.

How to fix Scania EAS fault code 768512?

  1. Check that the control unit has the latest software.
  2. If not, update the software.
  3. Restart the system as follows, with 24 V supply voltage:
  4. The vehicle should be stationary with the parking brake applied.
  5. Turn on the 15 voltage with the starter key and wait 5 seconds.
  6. Turn off the 15 voltage and wait another 5 seconds.
  7. Turn on the 15 voltage again and wait another 5 seconds.
  8. If the fault is still active, renew the control unit, including the electric motor.
  9. Note: If simply restarting the system resolves the fault, the cable harness and components related to the voltage supply should also be checked.

Detection

Internal Data Flash error. The DTC will set during the following condition: 1.System state: NMWait, PreDrive, DriveDown, DriveUp, PostRun, Off, Flash, Error. 2.System voltage is above 6v. 3.System voltage is below 42v.

Possible cause

1. Incorrect DataFlash block configuration. 2. Non-initialization of DataFlash blocks. 3. Improper shut-down of the powerpack. 4. NVRAM storage of the powerpack is corrupted.

System reaction

Set the Yellow Lamp to "On". Set the signal EASState to ERROR. Set the EPS motor torque to 0 Nm. Electronic steering system is inactive. The software endstops are deactivated. DTC, KFC_ERROR_MODE_ACTIVE is set ACTIVE in the same Klemme-15 cycle. ActualSteeringMode signal stay in ASM mode. How to fix

  1. Step.1: If Updated/Newer SW is available: Flash SW.
  2. Step-2: Perform proper Clamp_15-Reset with stable PowerSupply as follows:
  3. Vehicle in Stand-Still (0kmph, Parking-Brake-Enganged)
  4. Clampe_15_ON + wait 5 seconds
  5. Clampe_15_OFF + wait 5 seconds
  6. Clampe_15_ON + wait 5 seconds
  7. If Error is still active (DTC-Status-TestFailed) remain with Step-3 Step-3: Replace the power pack if the SPN is still active.
