What does Scania EAS fault code 777731 mean?

Invalid value for relevant torque from the torque and angle sensor.

What causes Scania DTC 777731?

- Fault on the torque and angle sensor. - Fault on the cable harness between the torque and angle sensor and the control unit. - Internal fault in the control unit.

How does the system react?

- Yellow warning indication of an electrically assisted steering fault is displayed. - The control unit reports a fault via CAN. - The electric motor for electrically assisted steering is switched off. - The electronic end position is deactivated. - Fault code 0C6000 is activated at active 15 voltage.

What are the symptoms?

The steering feels sluggish due to degraded functions for steering assistance.

How to fix Scania EAS fault code 777731?

  1. Check the torque and angle sensor’s connection to the control unit.
  2. Renew the cable harness between the torque and angle sensor and the control unit.
  3. Turn the 15 voltage off and on with the starter key.
  4. If the fault code is still active, renew the torque and angle sensor, and electric motor with control unit.

Variant 2: TAS sensor torque signal values not valid

Detection

1. Torque sensor signals are invalid. 2. Torque sensor signals are outside of range. 3. The DTC will set during the following condition: 1.system state: DriveDown, DriveUp, PostRun. 2.system voltage is above 6v. 3.system voltage is below 42v.

Possible cause

1. Torque and Angle Sensor unit is defect/disconnected. 2. Connecting cable from the sensor to the powerpack is defect. 3. Defective powerpack.

System reaction

Set the Yellow Lamp to "On". Set the signal EASState to ERROR. Set the EPS motor torque to 0 Nm. Electronic steering system is inactive. The software endstops are deactivated. DTC, KFC_ERROR_MODE_ACTIVE is set ACTIVE in the same Klemme-15 cycle. ActualSteeringMode signal stay in ASM mode. How to fix

  1. Step-1: Check the Torque and Angle sensor connections to the powerpack.
  2. Step-2: Replace the cable connecting the sensor to the powepack.
  3. Step-3: Perform a Klemme-15 reset (New Ignition cycle).
  4. Step-4: Replace the servo unit (powerpack and sensor unit) if the SPN is still active.
