What does Scania EEC fault code 8706 mean?
NOx sensor T115 downstream of the SCR catalytic converter signals internal fault in the NOx sensor.
What causes Scania DTC 8706?
Internal fault, open circuit in the electrical circuit, in NOx sensor T115, damaged cable harness between the NOx sensor control unit and gauge or fault in the CAN communication.
How does the system react?
The fault affects the engine's emissions of nitrogen oxides. Depending on the emission class, it will result in torque reduction, speed limitation and a warning indication.
How to fix Scania EEC fault code 8706?
- Remove the NOx sensor and inspect damage to the cable harness between the NOx sensor control unit and the gauge.
- If the cable harness is damaged, fix the cable routing so that the new NOx sensor is not damaged.
- Replace NOx sensor.
- The NOx-sensor only has to be plugged in electrically to verify that the fault has been resolved.
- To verify that the fault has been rectified: Turn off the voltage with the starter key, wait until the button for the traffic warning light has gone out, and then turn it on again.
- If the fault is resolved, the fault code becomes inactive.
- Clear the fault code.
