What does Scania EMD fault code 49958 mean?
Validation fault when storing data.
What causes Scania DTC 49958?
The engine management system is not in programmable mode. The coordinator was not able to store a new key. The fault could also be that an engine test could not be validated in the coordinator.
How does the system react?
The starter motor is locked. If vehicle speed exceeds 20 km/h, engine speed drops down to 500 rpm as long as the fault code is active. If vehicle speed is below 20 km/h, the fuel supply is cut off and the engine shuts down and cannot be started as long as the fault code is active.
How to fix Scania EMD fault code 49958?
- The only measure that needs to be taken is to clear the fault code if no fault codes have been generated in the coordinator and the driver does not notice any malfunctions.
- If there are any fault codes in the coordinator then start troubleshooting there.
- After completing the troubleshooting, clear the fault code memory in the engine control unit and then check to see whether the fault code recurs.
