What does Scania EMO fault code 1594 mean?
The alternator indicates that: - it is not charging despite being activated, i.e. when the engine speed is at idling speed or above. - it is charging despite being deactivated, i.e. when the engine speed is at idling speed or lower.
What causes Scania DTC 1594?
Open circuit or short circuit in the alternator circuit.
How does the system react?
The electric power supply to the vehicle is regarded as unreliable. Functions that consume a lot of current and thus require functional charging are deactivated. Examples of these functions are dipped beams, seat heating and rear view mirror heaters. The engine control unit switches off the engine management system. In accordance with current legal requirements, the engine power is reduced for vehicles with NOx monitoring. The fault code cannot be deleted when it is active.
How to fix Scania EMO fault code 1594?
- Check the harness-to-harness connector, cable harness, battery master switch and alternator.
- See the Workshop Manual, TI 16-05 05 25, Troubleshooting and renewal table for alternators.
- If the operating time since the fault code was generated exceeds 10 hours, drain the EGR cooler as there is a risk that condensation formed in the air-cooled EGR cooler while the EGR system was switched off.
- Drain according to the instructions in the Workshop Manual, sub-group 01-65.
