Variant 1
Applies to: AUS4 (CUI)
What does Scania AUS fault code 96 mean?
The electronic control unit has been above the maximum level for operating voltage.
What causes Scania DTC 96?
- Supply voltage to the electronic control unit too high. - A component connected to the electronic control unit or its cable harness is short circuited to 12 V or 24 V.
How does the system react?
The electronic control unit is switched off.
How to fix Scania AUS fault code 96?
- Disconnect all cable harnesses from the electronic control unit.
- Turn the starter key to the drive position and measure the voltage between each wire on the electronic control unit.
- The measurement result should be as follows:
- Pin D18: 30 voltage to the electronic control unit = 12 V.
- Pin D17: Earth to the electronic control unit = 0 V.
- Pin D12: Primary wake-up signal from the starter lock = 12 V.
- If there is overvoltage in the 12 V supply, continue troubleshooting on the equaliser, E129, (24/12 V direct current converter on truck).
- Only connect the electric power supply, earth connections and CAN cable harness, pin E7 (CAN low) and E1 (CAN high), to the electronic control unit.
- Connect the vehicle connection again and check fault codes for the control unit.
- Rectify any active or inactive fault codes related to short circuits.
- Check that the control unit has the latest software.
Variant 2
Applies to: AUS4 (CUI)
Detection
The electronic control unit has been above the maximum level for operating voltage, (16 V).
Possible cause
Possible causes: - Supply voltage to the electronic control unit too high. - A component connected to the electronic control unit or its cable harness is short circuited to 12 V or 24 V.
System reaction
The electronic control unit is switched off.
How to fix
- Connect SDP3 to find out whether a component connected to the electronic control unit is short circuited.
- Rectify any active or inactive fault codes related to short circuits.
