What does Scania BCI fault code 553 mean?
The expansion unit has not received any system configuration from the BCI control unit.
What causes Scania DTC 553?
Open circuit in the BCI control unit supply voltage. Open circuit in the CAN bus for expansion units.
How does the system react?
The expansion unit inputs and outputs cannot be used.
How to fix Scania BCI fault code 553?
- Check that the BCI control unit is supplied with voltage and is switched on.
- Check the connections and cable harness to the CAN bus for expansion units.
Variant 2: Communication with the air processing system (APS)
Applies to: BCI1 (BWE)BCI2 (BWE)
Detection
Communication with the APS control unit has ceased.
Possible cause
The cause can be one of the following: - Open circuit in supply voltage to APS control unit. - APS control unit is not connected to the yellow CAN bus. - The APS control unit is defective.
System reaction
Functions which are dependent on communication with the APS control unit are not functioning correctly.
How to fix
- Check fault codes from the APS control unit.
- If no fault codes can be read from the APS control unit:
- Check the supply voltage and 15 voltage to the APS control unit.
- Check the APS control unit connections to the yellow CAN bus.
- Check connections and cable harness for the yellow CAN bus.
Variant 3: Communication with the air processing system (APS)
Applies to: BCI2 (BWE)
Detection
Communication with the APS control unit has ceased.
Possible cause
The cause can be one of the following: - Open circuit in supply voltage to APS control unit. - APS control unit is not connected to the yellow CAN bus. - The APS control unit is defective.
Symptoms
Functions which are dependent on communication with the APS control unit are not functioning correctly.
How to fix
- Check fault codes from the APS control unit.
- If no fault codes can be read from the APS control unit:
- Check the supply voltage and 15 voltage to the APS control unit.
- Check the APS control unit connections to the yellow CAN bus.
- Check connections and cable harness for the yellow CAN bus.
Variant 4: Communication with the air processing system (APS)
Applies to: BCI3 (BWE)
Detection
Communication with the APS control unit has ceased.
Possible cause
The cause may be one of the following: - Open circuit in the supply voltage to the APS control unit. - The APS control unit is not connected to the orange CAN bus.
- Check the APS control unit connections to the orange CAN bus.
- Check connections and cable harness for CAN bus 13.
Variant 5
Applies to: BCI C1 (BWEXI)
Detection
Expansion unit has not received any system configuration from the BCI control unit.
Possible cause
Open circuit in BCI control unit supply voltage. Open circuit in CAN bus for expansion units.
System reaction
The expansion unit inputs and outputs cannot be used.
How to fix
- Check that the BCI control unit is supplied with voltage and is switched on.
- Check the connections and cable harness to the CAN bus for expansion units.
