No signal from the rotational speed sensor of the variable coolant pump.

What causes Scania DTC 6160?

- Defective drive belt. - Fault in the cable harness or connectors. - Faulty rotational speed sensor. - Defective pump coupling.

How does the system react?

If there is an electrical fault in the rotational speed sensor or cable harness, the control unit will demand full fan speed and fuel consumption will increase.

What are the symptoms?

If the fault is mechanical, there will be no fan cooling and the cooling capacity will reduce greatly. This could lead to reduced torque.

How to fix Scania EMD fault code 6160?

  1. Check the drive belt.
  2. Check the cable harness and connectors of the variable coolant pump.
  3. If no other fault is found, renew the variable coolant pump.
  4. Check that the fault has been rectified using the diagnostic tool.
