What causes Scania DTC 6164?

- Check the mechanism in the EGR valve. - Faulty valve block V107. - Faulty position sensor for EGR valve T124. - Incorrectly installed position sensor for EGR valve T124. - Fault on the control cylinder. - Faulty EGR damper.

What are the symptoms?

The fault may result in the engine having trouble setting the correct EGR content.

How to fix Scania EMD fault code 6164?

  1. Check that the control cylinder can be moved between the open and closed position (particularly to the closed position)
  2. Check that the EGR damper is intact.
  3. If it is broken, it is important to check the silencer intake for loose parts which can damage the catalytic converters, if applicable.
  4. Check that air is not leaking through valve block V107.
  5. Check that the EGR valve position sensor, T124, is intact and correctly installed.
  6. Renew the control cylinder.
  7. Note: After renewing the control cylinder, EGR valve or EGR valve position sensor T124, always run Resetting and calibrating the EGR circuit.
