What does Scania EME fault code 4108 mean?

Communication between the engine control unit and the SCR control unit has ceased.

What causes Scania DTC 4108?

The fault could be from power being cut off from the SCR control unit and supplied to the engine control unit simultaneously. If the fault recurs often, there is probably a fault in the harness-to-harness connectors or electrical cables.

How does the system react?

Injection of reductant is switched off. The fault affects the engine's emissions of nitrogen oxides. Warning indication is displayed. On engines with NOx monitoring, torque is reduced by 40%. The fault code cannot be deleted when it is active. When the fault has been rectified, this must be verified by the control unit in order for the fault code to become inactive.

What are the symptoms?

Since communication has ceased, no additional fault codes are generated for the SCR system.

How to fix Scania EME fault code 4108?

  1. If there are other SCR fault codes, troubleshoot them first.
  2. Switch the power off and on several times with the starter key.
  3. If no fault code indicates that the SCR system is off, check the electrical cables and clean the harness-to-harness connectors.
  4. Check that the SCR system fuses are intact.
  5. Check that both control units receive power simultaneously.
  6. If none of the above helps, renew the SCR control unit.
  7. If this does not help, renew the engine control unit.
  8. Switch off the voltage with the starter key, wait for at least 90 seconds and then switch it on again.
  9. If the fault is resolved, the fault code becomes inactive.
  10. Clear the fault code.
  11. Switch the voltage off and on three times at 10 second intervals to deactivate the warning indication.
