What does Scania EME fault code 516 mean?

Open circuit detected in the injector solenoid valve or in the electrical cables to the injector.

What causes Scania DTC 516?

The electrical cable or solenoid valve for the injector on cylinder 4 is probably defective.

What are the symptoms?

The fault only occurs when the engine is running. The control unit continuously tries to use the injectors irrespective of malfunctions. Engine power is affected to different degrees depending on how many injectors are faulty.

How to fix Scania EME fault code 516?

  1. Disconnect the electrical cable connections from the control unit and from the solenoid valve on the defective injector.
  2. Measure the resistance across the solenoid valve.
  3. Check the electrical cable pin connections in the control unit connector and the cable grommet in the cylinder head.
  4. Measure the resistance between the two loose ends of the positive and negative cables respectively.
