The measured concentration of the reductant is too low.

What causes Scania DTC 4136?

Poor quality of the reducing agent (too low concentration of reductant). Faulty urea quality sensor [T116].

How to fix Scania EMS fault code 4136?

  1. Ensure that the reductant tank contains reducing agent of the appropriate quality (31-34% urea concentration).
  2. Check the urea quality sensor.
  3. Verify that the urea concentration measured by the urea quality sensor agrees with the concentration measured with refractometer.

Possible cause

The fault may be due to low quality reductant.

System reaction

The fault affects the engine's nitrous oxide emissions.

How to fix

  1. Rectify any other fault codes relevant to the engine and the exhaust gas aftertreatment management system.
  2. Using the reductant quality sensor T116, check that the reductant tank contains reductant of the right quality with a concentration of 31-34%.
  3. If the quality is too low, the driver should contact the reductant supplier.
  4. Switch to a reductant of the correct quality.
  5. Refer to Workshop Manual > 03-26 Exhaust gas aftertreatment > Exhaust gas aftertreatment Euro 6 and Post NLT > Checking the reductant quality.
  6. Verification Run the wizard Exhaust gas aftertreatment, function test SCR to verify that the fault has been rectified.
