What causes Scania DTC 8576?

Communication between tachograph and impulse sensor has been faulty due to a short circuit, open circuit or defective impulse sensor.

How to fix Scania SC fault code 8576?

  1. Pair up the tachograph and the road speed sensor if necessary.
  2. Recalibrate the tachograph.
  3. Check the impulse sensor, including cable harness and harness-to-harness connectors.
  4. Check if there are indications that the road speed sensor has been manipulated in a prohibited manner.

Variant 2: Road speed sensor

Detection

No speed signal from the road speed sensor. The tachograph display shows code 21 for this fault code.

Possible cause

- Short circuit or open circuit in the cable harness between the road speed sensor and the tachograph. - Internal fault in the road speed sensor. - Fault on tachograph.

How to fix

  1. Check the cable harness and harness-to-harness connectors.
  2. Check the road speed sensor.
  3. Check pin B3 on the tachograph.

Variant 3: Road speed sensor

Detection

No speed signal from the road speed sensor.

Possible cause

Communication between tachograph and road speed sensor has been faulty due to a short circuit, open circuit or defective road speed sensor.

System reaction

A warning is displayed in the instrument cluster.

How to fix

  1. Pair up the tachograph and the road speed sensor if necessary.
  2. Recalibrate the tachograph.
  3. Check the road speed sensor, including cable harness and harness-to-harness connectors.
  4. Check if there are indications that the road speed sensor has been manipulated in a prohibited manner.

Variant 4: Road speed sensor

Applies to: SC4 (TCO)

Detection

No speed signal from the road speed sensor.

Possible cause

- Short circuit or open circuit in the cable harness between the road speed sensor and the tachograph. - Loss of power or communication fault between the tachograph and the road speed sensor for longer than five minutes, which may lead to the road speed sensor being temporarily blocked. - Internal fault in the road speed sensor. - Fault on tachograph.

System reaction

The event is stored in the tachograph and in the digital tachograph card. Display fault code 21 is displayed.

How to fix

  1. Check the cable harness and harness-to-harness connectors.
  2. Check whether fault code 0x002380 is active (display fault code 20).
  3. The road speed sensor may be blocked; use a test instrument to pair the tachograph and the road speed sensor.
  4. Note: Loss of power or communication fault between the tachograph and the road speed sensor for longer than five minutes may lead to the road speed sensor being temporarily blocked.
  5. In the event of repeated faults, the blocking time will be increased successively before finally blocking the road speed sensor permanently.
  6. A new pairing of the road speed sensor is then required to terminate the blocking.
  7. Note: After 3 pairing attempts, the function is blocked for safety reasons.
  8. The workshop card must then be removed and refitted in order to be verified again.
  9. Check the road speed sensor.
  10. Check pin B3 on the tachograph.

Variant 5: Road speed sensor
