The tachograph cannot identify the impulse sensor.
What causes Scania DTC 9480?
Communication between tachograph and road speed sensor has been faulty due to a short circuit, open circuit or defective road speed sensor. The fault code is also generated if the tachograph or road speed sensor without subsequent pairing together.
How to fix Scania SC fault code 9480?
- Check the road speed sensor, including cable harness and harness-to-harness connectors.
- Repair the unit if necessary.

System reaction
A warning is displayed in the instrument cluster.

Variant 4: Road speed sensor

Detection
Faulty signal from the road speed sensor.
Possible cause
- Open circuit in the cable harness for road speed sensor voltage supply. - Internal fault in the road speed sensor. - Loss of power or communication fault between the tachograph and the road speed sensor for longer than 5 minutes, which may lead to the road speed sensor being temporarily blocked. - Fault on tachograph.
System reaction
The event is stored in the tachograph and in the digital tachograph card. Display fault code 16 is displayed.

- Pair the units together using the tachograph calibration equipment.
- Renew the road speed sensor.
