There is a risk that it will not be possible to start the engine or to prevent starting the engine via the switch module in the engine compartment. There is a risk that the engine can be started despite the start selector being in centre position. The vehicle cannot be started from the switch module before the fault code has been reset.

How to fix

  1. Check the signals from the start selector in the switch module for starting and stopping the engine.
  2. Check that the cable harness between the switch module and the BCI control unit is not short circuited to the voltage supply.
  3. Reset the fault code.
