What does Scania DAS fault code 846 mean?

Communication on the additional CAN bus has been interrupted.

What causes Scania DTC 846?

- Fault in the CAN bus connections or cable harness. - Short circuit in the control unit wake-up signal. - Short circuit between CAN high and voltage supply. - Overload on the CAN bus. - Fault in one of the control units on the CAN bus.

How does the system react?

Functions dependent on information from the additional CAN bus are degraded.

How to fix Scania DAS fault code 846?

  1. Check the CAN bus connection to the DAS control unit.
  2. Check the CAN bus cable harnesses and harness-to-harness connectors.
  3. Measure the resistance between the DAS control unit pin for the CAN bus CAN High and CAN Low with the battery disconnected.
  4. Resistance should be around 60 ohms.
  5. (Due to the two termination resistors connected in parallel.)
  6. Disconnect the battery.
  7. Measure the resistance between the DAS control unit pin for CAN high of the CAN bus and any other control unit pin for CAN high of the CAN bus.
  8. Resistance should be close to 0 ohm.
  9. Disconnect the battery.
  10. Measure the resistance between the DAS control unit pin for CAN low of the CAN bus and any other control unit pin for CAN low of the CAN bus.
  11. Resistance should be close to 0 ohm.
  12. Check the circuit for the DAS control unit wake-up signal (15).
  13. Check that no third-party equipment is connected to the CAN bus.
