What does Scania EME fault code 217 mean?
The main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the passenger side H3 indicates an implausibly high temperature compared with the main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the driver’s side H2 and the temperature sensor in the intake manifold (T126 or T202).
What causes Scania DTC 217?
Possible causes: - Fault in the main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the passenger side H3. - Fault in the harness-to-component connectors or cable harness of the main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the passenger side H3. - The main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the passenger side H3 has been exposed to abnormally high temperatures compared with the main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the driver’s side H2 and the temperature sensor in the intake manifold (T126 or T202).
How does the system react?
If the vehicle is equipped with EGR, there is a risk that the EGR system will shut down at low ambient temperatures.
How to fix Scania EME fault code 217?
- Compare the temperature between the main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the passenger side H3, the main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the driver’s side H2 and the temperature sensor in the intake manifold (T126 or T202).
- Check the harness-to-component connectors and cable harness of the main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the passenger side H3.
- Renew the main mirror and wide-angle mirror heater element on the passenger side H3.
- Verification To verify that the fault has been rectified, drive the vehicle at more than 30 km/h for more than 2 minutes.
- If the fault has been rectified, the fault code becomes inactive and can be cleared.
