What causes Scania DTC 389?

- Fault in the fuel temperature sensor cable harness or harness-to-component connectors. - Fault in combined sensor or coolant temperature sensor. - Fault in the fuel temperature sensor.

How does the system react?

Reduced engine performance.

How to fix Scania EME fault code 389?

  1. Run Safety precautions for the fuel system.
  2. Check the fuel temperature sensor cable harness and harness-to-component connectors.
  3. Check that the combined sensor is indicating a plausible temperature value.
  4. Check that the coolant temperature sensor is indicating a plausible value.
  5. Renew the fuel temperature sensor.
  6. Verification Wait until the coolant temperature and the ambient temperature are the same.
  7. Do not start the engine during this time.
  8. Then check whether the fault code is deactivated.
