- Fault in cable harness or connector for fuel pressure and temperature sensor. - Fault in fuel pressure and temperature sensor. - Fault in the coolant temperature sensor. - Fault in outdoor temperature sensor.

What are the symptoms?

Engine performance may be reduced.

How to fix Scania EMS fault code 385?

  1. Warning!
  2. Always wear eye protection and gloves; there is a risk of burn injuries when the safety valve is open.
  3. The fuel system must be depressurised according to the instructions before starting work.
  4. Check the cable harness and connector for the fuel pressure and temperature sensor (T199).
  5. Check that the outdoor temperature sensor is indicating a plausible value.
  6. Check that the coolant temperature sensor (T33) is indicating a plausible value.
  7. Renew the fuel pressure and temperature sensor.
  8. Renew the outdoor temperature sensor.
  9. Renew the coolant temperature sensor.

Detection

The fuel temperature sensor displays an implausible value. The difference between the temperature from the fuel temperature sensor and the temperature from the coolant temperature sensor is too great.

Possible cause

The fault can be due to any of the following: - Fault in the fuel temperature sensor cable harness or connectors. - Fault in outdoor temperature sensor T27 or coolant temperature sensor T33. - Fault in the fuel temperature sensor.

How to fix

  1. Run Safety precautions for the fuel system.
  2. Check the fuel temperature sensor cable harness and connectors.
  3. Check that the outdoor temperature sensor is indicating a plausible value.
  4. Check that the coolant temperature sensor is indicating a plausible value.
  5. Renew the fuel temperature sensor.
  6. To check that the fault has been rectified: Wait until the coolant temperature and the outdoor temperature are the same.
  7. Do not start the engine during this time.
  8. Check that the fault code has been deactivated.
