What does Scania EMS fault code 5888 mean?
Exhaust gas temperature sensor T113 upstream of the SCR catalytic converter has an implausibly large deviation from a calculated value. Applies only to Euro 6 Temperature sensor T158 upstream of the oxidation catalytic converter has an implausibly large deviation from a calculated value.
What causes Scania DTC 5888?
Possible faults: - Fault in exhaust gas temperature sensor T113 upstream of the SCR catalytic converter or temperature sensor T158 upstream of the oxidation catalytic converter. - Fault in exhaust gas pressure sensor T125. - The exhaust system has been tampered with or is leaking. - Fault in mass flow sensor T126 (only applies to engines with EGR). - Fault in charge air pressure sensor T122 (only applies to engines without EGR). - Fault in the injection system.
How does the system react?
The fault can result in: - Too high a dosage of reductant. - Lumps in the exhaust system, e.g. in the reductant doser or in the SCR catalytic converter. - Increased fuel consumption.
How to fix Scania EMS fault code 5888?
- Check fault codes relating to the fuel system and the exhaust gas aftertreatment system.
- Run Exhaust gas aftertreatment, particulate filter function test, which contains a side-by-side comparison of the temperature sensors.
- Check whether the exhaust system has been tampered with.
- Check exhaust gas pressure sensor T125 with exhaust brake activated.
- Run the Fuel leak test to check whether the fuel system is leaking.
- Check whether the exhaust gas aftertreatment system or gas exchange system is leaking.
