What causes Scania DTC 8483?

Short circuit to battery voltage for potentiometer 1.

How does the system react?

For vehicles with a gas engine: It is not possible to regulate the throttle. Maximum engine torque is limited. The control unit uses a replacement value. For vehicles with pneumatic throttle: The emissions warning lamp comes on.

How to fix Scania EMS fault code 8483?

  1. For vehicles with a gas engine:
  2. Check fuses.
  3. Check whether potentiometer 1 is short-circuited to battery voltage.
  4. Check the function of the throttle.
  5. Renew the throttle unit.
  6. Renew engine control unit E88.
  7. For vehicles with pneumatic throttle:
  8. Check the circuit for the throttle position sensor T162.
  9. Check the function of the throttle by activating valve block V107.
