Scania EMS DTC 8568 Lambda control

EMS Engine Management System · Scania · 2 variants

Code 8568 (decimal). Some diagnostic tools show it in hexadecimal as 2178.

In short

The lambda control has exceeded the maximum permitted limit. The air/fuel mixture is too lean.

Variant 1

Applies to: EMS S7

What does Scania EMS fault code 8568 mean?

The lambda control has exceeded the maximum permitted limit. The air/fuel mixture is too lean.

What causes Scania DTC 8568?

Possible causes:: - The injectors are clogged. - Mass flow sensor T126 is showing an abnormally low air flow. - Low pressure in the fuel manifold. - Wrong quality gas.

How does the system react?

There is a risk of misfiring. May affect engine performance.

How to fix Scania EMS fault code 8568?

  1. Clean the injectors.
  2. See instructions in Scania Multi > TI > 03-13 01 25, Cleaning injectors on gas engines.
  3. Renew mass flow sensor T126.
  4. Check that the pressure in the fuel manifold is sufficient at high load.
  5. Check that the gas fulfils the requirements for high gas quality.
  6. To verify that the fault has been rectified:
  7. Warm up the engine to at least 55°C and run with an even and high load for approx.
  8. 45 seconds.
  9. The fault code then becomes inactive.
  10. Clear the fault code and check that it is not regenerated.

Variant 2

Applies to: EMS S8
