What does Scania TMS fault code 283 mean?
Given the control signal, the clutch actuator piston stroke reading is too great.
What causes Scania DTC 283?
- Defective or loose screws securing the clutch actuator. - Broken or cracked attachment points on the clutch housing.
How does the system react?
- A yellow warning indication is displayed. - If the vehicle is stationary when the fault occurs: neutral position is activated, which prevents the vehicle from being driven further. - If the vehicle is driving when the fault occurs: the gear continues in locked position. Neutral (N) is activated when the vehicle slows to a stop. This prevents the vehicle from being driven further.

How to fix Scania TMS fault code 283?
- Check whether the release bearing or lever has fallen off the pressure plate.
- Check the clutch and clutch control.
- Check the clutch actuator installation.
- Renew the clutch actuator.
