What does Scania EMS fault code 112 mean?

The outdoor temperature sensor displays too high a value, or the temperature sensor upstream of the intake to the turbocharger compressor impeller displays too low a value.

What causes Scania DTC 112?

Possible causes: - Fault in the outdoor temperature sensor or the temperature sensor upstream of the intake to the turbocharger compressor impeller. - Outdoor temperature sensor tampered with.

How does the system react?

The check compares the temperatures from the outdoor temperature sensor and the temperature sensor upstream of the intake to the turbocharger compressor impeller when the vehicle is driven. The check can be carried out more rapidly if the vehicle is driven at high speed. The EGR circuit and the SCR system are switched off if the ambient temperature is too low. In accordance with current legal requirements, the engine power is reduced for vehicles with NOx monitoring. For vehicles with Euro 5: The fault code cannot be deleted when it is active.

How to fix Scania EMS fault code 112?

  1. Drive the vehicle at minimum 40 km/h for about 10 minutes.
  2. Check the outdoor temperature sensor and the temperature sensor upstream of the intake to the turbocharger compressor impeller are indicating plausible values by measuring with an external thermometer as close to the sensor as possible.
  3. Check the outdoor temperature sensor and the temperature sensor upstream of the intake to the turbocharger compressor impeller along with their harness-to-component connectors and cable harnesses.
  4. Renew the outdoor temperature sensor or the temperature sensor upstream of the intake to the turbocharger compressor impeller if they indicate implausible values.
  5. To verify that the fault has been rectified: switch off the ignition with the starter key and wait for 15 seconds.
  6. Drive the vehicle at minimum 40 km/h for about 10 minutes.

Variant 2: Outdoor temperature sensor driver's side, implausibly high temperature

Detection

Truck The outdoor temperature sensor driver's side (H2) indicates an implausible high temperature compared with outdoor temperature sensor passenger side and the temperature sensor in the intake manifold (T202). Bus The outdoor temperature sensor driver's side (T27) indicates an implausible high temperature compared with outdoor temperature sensor passenger side and temperature sensor in the intake manifold (T126 or T202).

Symptoms

Engine with EGR system: The EGR system can be switched off if the outside temperature is too high.

How to fix

  1. Compare the temperature between the outdoor temperature sensor driver's side, the outdoor temperature sensor passenger side and the temperature sensor in the intake manifold.
  2. Check the cable harness and connector for the outdoor temperature sensor driver’s side.
  3. Renew the outdoor temperature sensor driver’s side.
  4. Verification To verify that the fault has been rectified, drive the vehicle at more than 30 km/h for more than 2 minutes.
  5. If the fault has been rectified, the fault code becomes inactive and can be cleared.
