What causes Scania DTC 587?

- Defective connections on CUV for the sub data bus. - Defective cable harness for the sub data bus, open circuit on CAN High (pin C35) or CAN Low (pin C36).

Functions which are dependent on information from the sub data bus are deprioritised.

How to fix Scania CUV fault code 587?

  1. Check the sub data bus connections on CUV (pin C35 and pin C36).
  2. Check the sub data bus cable harness:
  3. Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN High (pin C35) and CAN Low (pin C36).
  4. The resistance should be close to 60 ohms (a 120 ohm termination resistor is located at each end of the CAN bus).
  5. Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN High on CUV (pin C35) and CAN High on another unit on the sub data bus.
  6. Resistance should be close to 0 ohm.
  7. Measure the resistance (with the battery disconnected) between CAN Low on CUV (pin C36) and CAN Low on another unit on the sub data bus.
  8. Resistance should be close to 0 ohm.
