What does Scania ESTA fault code 547 mean?

Fault in the CAN communication with the piston position sensor.

What causes Scania DTC 547?

- Open circuit or short circuit in the CAN bus between the control unit and piston position sensor. - The voltage supply for the piston position sensor is incorrect. - Internal fault in the piston position sensor.

How to fix Scania ESTA fault code 547?

  1. Check whether there are any other fault codes for the piston position sensor.
  2. Check that the piston position sensor is complete and undamaged.
  3. Disconnect the battery.
  4. Check the cable harness and connections between the control unit and the piston position sensor.
  5. Remove the harness-to-component connector from the control unit and measure between pins A35 and A38.
  6. The resistance should be approximately 120 Ohm.
  7. Then reconnect the harness-to-component connector again.
  8. Disconnect the harness-to-component connector from the piston position sensor and measure between pins 2 and 4.
  9. The resistance should be approximately 120 Ohm.
  10. Check the piston position sensor voltage supply.
  11. Disconnect the harness-to-component connector from both ends and measure between A3 and 5 and between A1 and 3.
  12. The resistance should be approximately 0 Ohm.
  13. If no fault is found, renew the piston position sensor harness-to-component connector.
  14. If the fault code persists, renew the piston position sensor (T1001).
