What does Scania EST fault code 598 mean?
The signal from the valve position sensor about the position of the degradation valve differs from the requested position from the control unit.
What causes Scania DTC 598?
- Incorrect hydraulic fluid grade in a cold climate. - Fault in the cable harness or harness-to-component connectors for the valve position sensor. - Valve position sensor fault. - Fault with the solenoid valve for degraded mode. - Fault with the solenoid valve for mechanical unlocking of the degradation valve. - The degradation valve is stuck. - The valve position sensor has been exposed to electromagnetic radiation.
How to fix Scania EST fault code 598?
- NOTE: If the fault occurs at an extremely low temperature, the hydraulic fluid may need to be changed.
- For the recommended hydraulic fluid grade in a cold climate, see the Workshop Manual > 00-16 Periodic maintenance > 00:16-15 Fuel, lubricants and fluids > Chassis > Oil grade for components.
- If the fault code is inactive:
- Let the system carry out a diagnostic self-test.
- Apply the parking brake and then turn the 15 voltage off and on with the starter key.
- Check whether fault code 628 or 629 is active.
- If so, rectify these.
- If fault codes 628 and 629 are not active, and the system seems to be functioning normally, ignore this fault code.
- If the fault code is active:
- Let the system carry out a diagnostic self-test.
- Apply the parking brake and then turn the 15 voltage off and on with the starter key.
- Check whether fault code 628 or 629 is active.
- If so, rectify these.
