What does Scania BWS fault code 11 mean?

There was no signal with information about neutral position.

What causes Scania DTC 11?

Fault on the neutral position sensor. Fault in the configuration of the coordinator. For vehicles with manual gearbox the neutral position sensor is controlled by the coordinator. Vehicles with Opticruise do not have a separate neutral position sensor, instead information about neutral position is received via other sensors.

How does the system react?

Remote starting of the engine will not work when there is no signal. Other functions which are dependent on the gear being in the neutral position will have limited function or will not function at all. The fault code can only be activated if one of the following statements is correct. - The bodywork control unit is configured to support remote enginr start. - One of the power take-off functions is configured so that it is dependent upon the gear being in neutral. - The vehicle is fitted with a torque converter. - One of the bodywork control unit outputs is configured to reproduce a discrete neutral position signal. Older vehicles with Opticruise may generate this fault code if the gear change sequence takes too long. This is not a fault so no action required.

How to fix Scania BWS fault code 11?

  1. If the vehicle is fitted with Opticruise: Clear and ignore this fault code.
  2. If the vehicle is not fitted with Opticruise: Check whether there is a fault on the neutral position sensor.
  3. Check the configuration of the neutral position sensor in the coordinator.
