What does Scania BWS fault code 17 mean?
Fault on the CAN communication on the external CAN bus.
What causes Scania DTC 17?
There is a short circuit on the external CAN bus. Incorrect communication speed used on the external CAN bus.
How does the system react?
All communication on the external CAN bus is lost. As long as communication is broken, all the user functions controlled via the external CAN bus will be deactivated. This fault code is not generated if the vehicle has been turned off, i.e. if the starter key is in locked or radio position. If there is a break in the external CAN bus no fault codes will be set.
How to fix Scania BWS fault code 17?
- Check the external CAN bus according to the work description for communication problems on the CAN buses.
- Check the connection between the external CAN bus and the bodywork control unit.
