What does Scania EMD fault code 135 mean?

The fuel pressure in the accumulator is lower than that requested by the control unit when the engine is running.

What causes Scania DTC 135?

- Air in the fuel system. - Blocked fuel filter. - Internal or external leakage in the high pressure side. - Fault in the fuel inlet metering valve. - Insufficient fuel supply from the low pressure side to the high pressure side. - Fault with the high pressure pump.

How does the system react?

When this fault code is active, engine power is reduced and the EGR circuit is deactivated, if applicable. The fault code cannot be cleared when it is active.

What are the symptoms?

There may be black smoke from the engine.

How to fix Scania EMD fault code 135?

  1. Run Safety precautions for the fuel system.
  2. Check the condition of the fuel filters and renew if necessary.
  3. Bleed the fuel system according to WSM > 03 > 03-00 Fuel and exhaust systems, assembly > Scania XPI fuel system.
  4. If fault code 4231 is active, rectify based on this first.
  5. If there are other fault codes for one of the injectors, rectify based on these first.
  6. If fault code 0148 is active, rectify based on this first.
  7. Run Check for internal leaks.
  8. Run Check of fuel inlet metering valve.
  9. Run Leak testing the safety valve.
  10. Run Plug test – checking for internal leakage using the starter motor.
  11. Run the Cylinder output test.
  12. Run Cylinder balancing.

Fuel pressure in the accumulator is below the value requested by the control unit when the engine is running.

Possible cause

- Air in the fuel system. - Blocked fuel filter. - Internal or external leakage in the high pressure side. - Fault in the fuel inlet metering valve. - Insufficient fuel supply from the low pressure side to the high pressure side. - Fault on the high pressure pump.

System reaction
