What does Scania BMU fault code 787 mean?
Solenoid valve for the propulsion battery cooling system is short-circuited to 30 voltage. Detected using electric diagnostics in BMU.
What causes Scania DTC 787?
Damage to solenoid valve V194, harness-to-component connectors or cable harness.
What are the symptoms?
No propulsion battery cooling available. If the ambient temperature is high, the propulsion battery may not reach the correct operating temperature. This could lead to a deterioration in the performance of the propulsion system.
How to fix Scania BMU fault code 787?
- Check the cable harness and harness-to-component connectors for the solenoid valve.
- Check the solenoid valve.
- Renew the BMU E81.
- When renewing BMU, run Calibrating propulsion battery information.

Detection
Solenoid valve for the propulsion battery cooling system is short-circuited to 30 voltage. Detected using electric diagnostics in BMU.
Possible cause
Damage to component or cable harness.
Symptoms
Heating of the propulsion battery is not possible. If the ambient temperature is low the propulsion battery may not reach operating temperature. This could lead to a deterioration in the performance of the electric drive system.
How to fix
- Disconnect solenoid valve V194 and harness-to-component connector E81-C.
- Measure the electrical cable between V194-1 and 30 voltage.
- If there is contact, renew the electrical cable.
- Renew the BMU E81.
- When renewing BMU, run RES > E 81 > BMU > Calibration > Calibrating propulsion battery information.
